A superb but minimalist conversion of an Edwardian cabbies' locker and rest room adjacent to the main railway entrance. Well worth a visit by rail passengers in need of refreshment, even though it is off-platform. As the railway station has its own tram stop it is also an excellent starting-off point for those wishing to try the pubs of Nottingham, Hucknall, Beeston or Clifton. A small single ground-floor room with central bar and original features such as bench lockers, painted wooden panelling and window-frames. Additional seating on wooden stools and beer barrels with wooden tops. The bar and tables have a simple scaffolding frame construction with a wooden in-fill where necessary. Ttwo-tone interior colour scheme of blue and white. Run by the BeerHeadZ group, who run similar outlets elsewhere in Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire. Small tongue-shaped side tables opposite the bar recently replaced with a long, narrow shelf, creating more space in front of the bar. Power sockets for re-charging devices but no WiFi. All beers change regularly, and are seldom repeated. 5 handpumps, 6 craft beer pumps and a range of bottled and canned beers and draught ciders. Beer or cider to go sold in polypins. The drinks menu is cleverly displayed on a screen reminiscent of those announcing arrivals and departures on the platforms next door. Nottingham CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year 2018. The small size, historic interior and proportions make access for wheelchair users difficult, particularly the single toilet. Capacity 36.
