See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Large, imposing pub raised prominently on Porchester Road. Excellent views of the city centre are afforded from the front patio area which can get very busy in summer, and on New Year's Eve for the city firework display. A single bar sits on the upper split level opposite the main entrance. There are numerous separate areas and alcoves allowing for quiet conversation, and an open fire gives the pub warmth, in both senses of the word. Two small TVs in the bar area show occasional sports. Food is prominent all day. Children are allowed until 9pm. Quizzes are held on Wednesdays, with sticky 13's on Sunday and bingo on Thursday. Poker and salsa sessions are also held. The function room is upstairs (with no disabled access).
