This former furniture shop was converted to a large pub by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries in 1999. It was initially part of their short-lived 'T&J Bernard' chain. After several years of closure, it was refurbished and reopened in May 2014 as a free house, albeit leased from Star Pubs (Heineken UK). A large traditional style bar and dining area on the ground floor. On the first floor is a modern-styled room with three ping-pong tables and weekend entertainment. There is a small yard area at the rear, and a small terrace at the back of the first-floor room; plus a few seats at the front on the pedestrianised High Street. The pub sells a range of 'craft' kegs and bottled beers, and also promotes cocktails, gin and rum.
