See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Owned by Everards, but managed by former cricketers Stuart Broad and Harry Gurney, this historic village pub underwent a major refurbishment in spring 2024. Across the front are three rooms of traditional style in the oldest part of the pub; these rooms are served by the original bar counter; some panelling and a log fire here. Behind these, the centre of the pub has been opened-out to form a large lounge area with a new servery. Then passing through an area with a display of the pub's wines behind glass cabinets to 'The Old Stables', a large new brightly decorated restaurant with exposed roof beams and a feature central fireplace.

The U-shaped range of buildings surround a delightful enclosed courtyard garden with an old potted olive tree in the centre. At the back is a large field with picnic tables. Set in the heart of Charnwood Forest, there are many walking and cycling routes nearby. Swithland Reservoir, Bradgate Park and the preserved Great Central Railway are also close. Note: card payments only.
