This public house is designed in an Art Deco style with superb curved sides and straight lines and was one of three in this style around Derby built by the Offiler's brewery of Derby. The other two were the Blue Boy in Chaddesden and the Blue Pool in Sinfin and both still stand. This is the only one still open as a pub. It situated on the Derby ring road in Alvaston near to all shops and amenities. The interior, which is well worth exploring, is a collection of medium sized rooms, many showing the curved lines of the building, though none are truly partitioned. Breakfast served from 9am at weekends then Stonebaked Pizza or a carvery is served till 9.00pm every day. Pub quiz on Wednesday night.
