Early 19th-century market place pub with two rooms divided by a central bar and with outside seating areas to the side and rear. This former Batemans pub, now operated by Pub People Company and refurbished March 2024, has regained its status as a proper ale pub after past disappointments, with up to four cask ales available (see Real Ale Finder). Regular entertainment includes TV sport and Tuesday Quiz.
