A public house near this site was originally called the Canal Turn, it's name changed to the Station Inn on completion of the railway in 1839. The old building was demolished in 1929 when the current building was built 30 yards away as the Moon Hotel. This site was next to a winding hole on the former Derby canal, which is now a walking path. The Canal Turn Public House underwent a major refurbishment in October 2016, relaunching itself as a Restaurant & Sports Bar. Changed again to the Moon Hotel in 2023 and opened as a restaurant and bar. The Moon Hotel is a very large multi-room pub that sits on a large plot of land slightly back from Station Road. There are two large rooms at the front of the pub, which are still separated. A function room is also availble.
